According to google, Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. This can be used to measure visit quality – a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren’t relevant to your visitors.

A Recent study has shown 60% of the visitors leave the website in first 3-7 seconds. Its more than half of the traffic!

You can just imagine how alarming that is. You work really hard doing SEO, optimizing your site, optimizing your PPC campaigns and a whole lot of other work to increase visits to your website. You may also be listed really high in search engines for relevant results and you expect visitors to click through to your site which they do.

Now, if half of these people leave your site without even thinking twice, how does that feel?

Exit Splash – Make Money From Exiting Visitors

Here is how I came across Exit Splash. A couple of days ago I installed google analytics on my website. Just yesterday I checked and was pleased to know I had fairly decent traffic. But then, I looked at a column called Bounce Rate. So out of curiosity I clicked on the help and to my horror this was people exiting my site at an alarmingly high rate.

I knew I had to do something about this. You see, I worked really hard on the content and felt bad that people who found my site primarily through the search engine results were not staying there very long. Of course I did have some readers who stayed on more than an hour.

After searching for different solutions, I found out that many marketers have encountered this same exit syndrome. A couple of solutions to the problem are using an exit popup or a virtual smart agent that you would have seen on many sales pages.

One of the things I could do is use a similar strategy and make exiting visitors opt-in to my newsletter which would help in bringing them back again and again. I decided to explore this option little more on the internet and see if anything is available to make my task easier.
